CamCompanion does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on
our servers. We have no servers. Everything the app does happens on your device
and on your own dashcam.
What the app accesses, and why
Local network access. The app communicates with your dashcam over
the Wi-Fi network that the dashcam itself broadcasts. This connection is used solely to
browse, stream, download, and configure recordings on hardware you own. No data is sent
to us or to any third party over this connection.
Photo library (add only). When you choose to save a recording or
photo, the app adds that file to your device's photo library. The app does not read,
browse, or upload your existing photos.
On-device storage. Recordings you download are stored on your
device and remain under your control. You can delete them at any time.
What the app does NOT do
No analytics, tracking, or advertising.
No user accounts, sign-in, or profiles.
No collection of contacts, browsing history, or usage data.
No transmission of your recordings, location, or any personal data to us or to any
third party.
Optional diagnostics
The app includes an optional Diagnostics feature that is
turned off by default. If you turn it on and then choose to send a
diagnostic report to the developer (always by your explicit action, via the system share
sheet):
The report may contain technical information about how the app communicated with
your dashcam (e.g. request/response data used to fix compatibility problems).
Wi-Fi passwords are removed from diagnostic reports before they can
be shared.
Location data is excluded by default. It is only included if you
explicitly choose to include it.
Reports are used solely to diagnose and fix problems, and are deleted after
analysis.
Nothing is ever sent automatically. If you never enable Diagnostics and never tap
"share," no diagnostic data ever leaves your device.
Website hosting
This website is hosted on GitHub Pages (GitHub, Inc., USA). When you visit it, GitHub
technically processes your IP address in its server logs to deliver the page and to keep
the service secure; see
GitHub's privacy statement.
This website itself sets no cookies and uses no analytics or tracking.
Children's privacy
The app is suitable for all ages and collects no personal data from anyone, including
children.
